MARY BALDWIN COLLEGE In its fifth year of classification as a master’s-level university, Mary Baldwin College continues to be named among the best colleges and universities in the country, according to the latest annual rankings by U.S.News & World Report. The college was listed in the top tier of master’s-level universities in the South for the fifth year in a row, moving up from a ranking of 31 in 2005 to 25 out of a pool of 127 ranked schools in the region. Mary Baldwin was also recognized as one of the best colleges in the Southeast region in the 2007 rankings by The Princeton Review. The “Best Colleges: Region by Region” section — a part of the rankings found only online — profiles colleges and universities that “stand out as academically excellent institutions of higher learning.” Mary Baldwin is among 140 colleges and universities to receive the Best in the Southeast distinction. MASTER’ PROGRAMS Master of Arts in Teaching Master of Letters and Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance Integrated Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Mary Baldwin College students may elect to participate in a dual degree program in the various branches of engineering or in computer science offered by the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia. Under this program, qualified students attend Mary Baldwin for three years and then, based on their academic performance are accepted into The University of Virginia for two or more years of study, leading to a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from MBC and a master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science from UVa. Integrated Master’s Degree in Nursing Students may complete three years at Mary Baldwin and transfer to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, for two additional years of study. They will receive a bachelor's degree in their field from Mary Baldwin and a master of science in nursing from Vanderbilt.
