is a registered non-profit trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. The Foundation is dedicated to the promotion of education, healthcare, agriculture, skill development, startups and entrepreneurship in India. The Foundation is well established in India and internationally for over 20 years. The Foundation has been organizing highly successful Indo-Global Summits in these fields for over a decade now. An important component of these Summits has been the presentation of awards for excellence to individuals, institutions and organizations in India and abroad.


ASCI is well-known as the College for Practising Managers. Established in 1956 at the initiative of the government and the corporate sector, the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad, has pioneered post-experience management education in India. A S C I equips corporate managers, administrators, entrepreneurs and academicians with the skills to synthesize managerial theory and practice; and respond to the ever-increasing complexity of managerial issues confronting government, industrial enterprises and non-government organizations.

At A Glance

The 11th edition of Indo-Global Summit and Awards 2018 will be held in Hyderabad, India on December 9, 2018. The event would have presentations of keynote addresses in the important fields of Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Skill Development, Startups and Entrepreneurship. Keynote addresses will be followed by Awards to honor individuals, institutions and organizations in Private Sector, PSUs, NGOs, Government departments, in recognition of their contributions and excellence in these fields. Leaders from private and public institutions and organizations, policy makers, representatives from the government and key people from these fields will assemble to recognize and applaud the achievements of the award winners at the gala event on December 9, 2018.


Indian educational system has been undergoing a paradigm shift in the recent past. India has the world’s second largest post-secondary student population of around 30 million. India has over 864 universities and university-level institutions and over 50,000 colleges, and yet the gross enrollment ratio (GER) is low with only 25.2 per hundred accessing higher education. India is far behind the developed countries' average of 50 per hundred. The Government of India has set a GER target of 30 per cent by 2020 and for that to be achieved; the number of universities and colleges will have to be increased while enhancing the quality of existing institutions.


The Indian healthcare industry is growing at a rapid pace and is expected to become a US$ 280 billion industry by 2020. Rising income levels and growing elderly populations are all factors that are driving this growth. In addition, changing demographics, disease profiles and the shift from chronic to lifestyle diseases in the country has led to increased spending on healthcare delivery.

Even so, nearly one million Indians die every year due to inadequate healthcare facilities and 700 million people have no access to specialist care. 80% of specialists live in urban areas. In order to meet manpower shortages and reach world standards, India would require investments of up to $20 billion over the next 5 years. India produces over 250,000 doctors annually in the modern system of medicine. A higher number of nurses and para-medical professionals and practitioners of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy are also produced. Better policy regulations and the establishment of public-private partnerships are possible solutions to the problem of manpower shortage.


Agriculture in India is the pivotal sector for ensuring food and nutritional security, sustainable development and for alleviation of poverty. It is the key sector for generating employment opportunities for the vast majority of the population. Since quite some time, agriculture sector, as a whole, has been confronted with numerous challenges linked to food and energy crisis coupled with climate change and degradation of natural resources. This sector also influences essential ecosystem services such as water and carbon sequestration. - VISION 2030 (Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi)

Skill Development

It is well known that skill and knowledge are the fulcrums to a nation’s development and economic augmentation. In today’s global scenario, countries boasting of higher and better levels of skills are understood to adjust more efficiently to the opportunities and challenges in the work field and thus deliver results.

In India, the working age population is far in excess of that is dependent on them. A positive marker of the development of the economy of the sub-continent, this demographic situation can be a potential source of significant economic strength. But this is possible provided the skills of the population are enhanced and continuously upgraded.

Startups and Entrepreneurship

“Startup” and “Entrepreneurship” are the two buzz words in India today. India is now number 3 in terms of startups across the world. Startups have become a clear focus not only from the Government "StartUp India" but with every major university now building an innovation lab and a startup cell including courses on Startup and entrepreneurship. These have become important and interesting career options for students with a focus on "Job Creators vs Job Seekers". Frugal innovation is also in this mix for creating the Startup and Entrepreneurship revolution in India.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has initiated the 'Start up India, Stand up India' mission which aims to promote start-ups by of fering incentives to boost the entrepreneurial culture leading to job creation in the country. Indus Foundation supports the 'Start up India, Stand up India' mission for making India a start-up hub fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation. Indus Foundation supports social entrepreneurs who are working towards developing, testing and scaling solutions that can address Indian and global development challenges.

Awards for Excellence 2018

The Indo-Global Awards for Excellence have become very popular over the years and are much sought after.   
Each award provides the recipient with a certificate and a memento.
  Award enables the winner to reach out to society with renewed confidence by leveraging on the immense marketing and PR value of the award.
  The award ceremony will be covered by leading newspapers and TV channels.
  The winner will be on a new high, a fast-track route to recognition of commitment to excellence.
  The winner will enjoy publicity that will establish reputation as a proven provider of exemplary levels of services.
 The winner will be able to use the award certificate in all brochures, leaflets, advertisements, websites and promotional collaterals.


Nominations may be submitted on-line to the Indus Foundation at indus@indus.org by individuals, institutions, or organizations, specifying the award(s) applied for and for whom. Self-nominations are also permitted. Nominations should be accompanied by the Nomination form along with the following materials (soft copy) in order for the nominations to be considered by the jury.

INSTITUTIONS & ORGANIZATIONS: Nomination (not more than four A4 pages) describing the nominee’s salient features and achievements for the specific award.

INDIVIDUALS: The nominee’s qualifications, achievements and resume (not more than four A4 pages).

Experts of the INDUS FOUNDATION will review each nomination thoroughly and shortlist suitable nominations to be considered for selection. The experts have broad discretion and may re-assign a nominee to an Award other than the one nominated for. Upon selection by the Awards jury, award winners will be informed by e-mail in about a month. The decision of the Awards jury will be final and binding.

Nominations received without the Sponsorship contribution will not be considered. In case, nomination is not accepted, the Sponsorship contribution will be refunded.
There is no prescribed pro-forma for nominations. INDUS FOUNDATION reserves the right to select awardees.
Terms and Conditions
  Sponsorship contribution payable for nomination of an award is: Individual-INR 10,000; Institution / Organization-INR 15,000.
  Nominations can be made for more than one award, but Sponsorship contribution has to be paid for each award.
  Award winners are allowed to attend the entire program on December 9, 2018. In case, award winner is unable to attend the program, the award will be couriered on “to pay” basis.
  In case, nominee is not selected for award, Sponsorship contribution will be refunded.

Rationale for Awards

Why do we work? For money? For success, fame, honour, self realisation? For the good life? Each of us is driven by an entirely different set of compulsions.

But one thing is certain. Some professions are meant for those who want to make money and some, for those who want to discover themselves. For example, teachers are clearly not those who enter the profession in search of money though it’s true that some teachers today are indeed very rich. But, gamblers are clearly in the casino to make money but most of those who enter a casino come out flat broke. The pursuit of mathematics, on the other hand, can go either way. You can become one of the greatest scientists of our time. Or you can, if you are so inclined, build a fortune on Dalal Street using your love for numbers to outwit others.

Even when you succeed in your calling, rewards can differ. Some become, like Mukesh Ambani, owner of the most prized enterprise in the country. Others become, like Sachin Tendulkar or Shah Rukh Khan, unqualified leaders of their own profession. There are others like Narendra Modi who are blessed with the opportunity to change the nation’s destiny, should they want to. Or like Sunil Mittal who, while building his huge personal empire, has changed India forever through his telecom moves. Ambition always begins with a dream, a purpose. And even though money may be an important part, it is doubtful if it really matters that much. Most people strive, excel, achieve for reasons other than money. It’s the desire to prove themselves. Even those who we frown upon, a Ramalinga Raju or a Linda Lovelace were actually pursuing the same objective, each in their own, unique way.

But not all those who strive, succeed. That’s where the role of awards and public recognition comes in. Awards do not only acknowledge success; they recognise many other qualities: ability, struggle, effort and, above all, excellence. For every Shah Rukh who succeeds and hits the jackpot, winning wealth, fame and honour, there are hundreds of equally gifted actors who do not make it. Not because they are any less talented but because life has this curious habit of being unfair, even to the best among us. Guru Dutt killed himself out of sheer disappointment. For every Sachin, there are hundreds of brilliant young sports people in India who never get the grooming and the break they need. And, even when they do, they are stymied at every level by a disrespectful system. We come to know of them only when they win an award and are outed before the media. Would you have heard of Mahasweta Devi or Aruna Roy, MC Mehta or Deep Joshi were it not for the Magsaysay? Would you have gone out and bought Kiran Desai or Aravind Adiga were it not for the Man Booker?

That’s where awards play a crucial role. Not everyone’s lucky to get the money and the rah-rah he or she deserves. Those who do not, manage to get by because of the support and recognition awards give them. When the history of cinema is written, Satyajit Ray will be remembered for his great films. He may not have made money from them. Some of his negatives may be irretrievably damaged. But the awards endorse him as one of the century’s greatest film makers. Likewise, every year, some truly remarkable Indians win fame and encouragement to pursue their excellent work through different awards. The most notable among them are the National Awards: the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna. But, very few, only a miniscule get these awards in the gigantic country of India with a huge population of 1.3 billion.

How often do we find ourselves looking for third party endorsements before we purchase something new? An award from TripAdvisor for example, can have a positive impact on a hotel or restaurant and bring new business. It is crucial for any organisation, in Business or the Arts to gain recognition for its products and services. Winning an award allows to distinguish an organisation from competitors and ensures that as many potential customers as possible are aware of its products and services. Awards recognise and reward the efforts of an organisation and its staff. Awards can also raise awareness of the brand in the following ways:

Differentiation. As each organisation strives to achieve stand out in an increasingly difficult and changing market, awards set an organisation apart from competitors and differentiate the quality of its achievements from others.
